Only if you follow all rules, you can expect support. It’s true that Plex will often recognize your files OK if you don’t.
Until it doesn’t.
I understand that I should follow all rules, but please help me understand this meanwhile.
If I still got the show as in in my screen, with episode 1, 2 and 3, doesn’t that mean that Plex already gets that it’s Season 1 and Episode 1-3 ?
Correct.
Verify that your mp4 files either don’t have any embedded metadata at all,
or if they are present that they are correct.
Inspect the content of the guid="... property from the Plex XML info of episode 1.
Which language are you using with your tv show library?
My library is set to english, since I do want that language for most of my shows. But the Swedish shows (that still are in the same main folder as all the other shows) I change Metadata language and title to Original and Swedish.
Have you verified that your mp4 files either don’t have any embedded metadata at all, or if they are present that they are correct?
What is inside the guid="... property from the Plex XML info of episode 1?
I will check this soon. I will also try to rename my folder, and add a folder with Season 1, and see if that help.
gui="local://... means the show is not matched.
I think the main reason is that this show currently only exists on TheTVDB and not on TMDB as well.
That is still an issue with the new agent.
This is what I don’t understand about the new TV scanner, If you specify the TVDB ID, why does the show still need to exist on the TMDB.
Surely if you specify the TVDB ID it should just go and look that up.
It doesn’t, however if you have your Episode Ordering settings set to TMDB then seasons won’t get matched. It should match fine if your episode ordering is set to TheTVDB.
But I have the library settings set to TVDB order. I have nothing in the default settings set to TMDB.
But I also think there is some other thing that might have happened when I change to the new agent, since now when I rename the folder and the files, and set it as S2020 instead and try to match it with this show instead Dokument inifrån - TheTVDB.com
I get the info about the show, but the episodes are still added as S01E01
On this topic. I’m watching the TV show The Crown, and I’m on season 3. On both IMDB, thetvdb and movies, episode 8 should be the episode called Dangling Man, and episode 9 should be the episode called Imbroglio. Even the files has these episode names in the file name, together with S03E08 and S03E09.
But my Plex show Imbroglio as E08 and Dangling Man as E09. Is there a way to see what “service” being used for that show, with the new agent?

I see the problem. Those episodes have the wrong external id link for the records on TMDB to TVDB. I’ll fix these later as I’m not at my PC at the moment.
EDIT: Change made on TMDB so the external id links go to the correct places on TVDB. Give it 24-48 hours to make it the plex cache servers and then force a refresh on your server for the show should fix it.
Do you know if that issue has been solved, because I just did a refresh of the metadata for that show and now I got the correct info.
