Uploading media to remote Plex server?

Server Version#: 1.25.3.5409
Player Version#: Plex Web

After always finding help here over many years I’ve finally had occasion to ask a question: Is there an uncomplicated way to upload new media to your plex server remotely?

We’ve recently moved and my plex server is some distance away. It is a home built headless Ubuntu 20.04 machine that I don’t currently have easy access to to add new media. I’ve thought of putting a windows machine next to it at my friend’s house where it lives and using TeamViewer or something similar to remote into that machine to add media but I wanted to appeal to the community to see if there was a better idea I hadn’t thought of. I would love for that feature to be available via Plex Web! Speed/Bandwidth are not an issue.

Plex itself does not support this feature. You would be looking into some remote desktop solution as your easiest way. You could even install it on the Ubuntu computer.

VPN server

Your Ubuntu machine has an SSH server installed and enabled by default. It also has SFTP server capability. You can use any SFTP client software on any machine connected to the internet and upload the media.
