User review made by me, but not really

Hello, I suddenly notice that my Plex server (?) creates user reviews by itself… !?!
In my activity overview I can see a review created for an item which I have not even seen yet…
Why is this happening and how can I trace where and when this happens?

is it your review or is it showing you review friend made?

It is “my” review… :grimacing:

Ok i am asking some folks if they can see anything on back end.

You do not seem to have a pin on your account. Is it possible someone in your Plex Home switched to you on their own device and is adding reviews under your account

Would you mind sending me a screenshot of what you see. You can message it to me directly by clicking on my username then the message button

No, only other users are family members… and they assure me they did not do it (or even watch the stuff us parents do…j

Will send 2 screenshots: one of a show, and one from my profile: lots of reviews…. (I do not even agree with amount of starts given…)

Are they only star ratings (no text), and do you run Plex Meta Manager/Kometa? If so, Kometa can “hijack” user ratings (Kometa Ratings Explained - Kometa Wiki) depending on your setup as a way to relay information for ratings overlays.

Ah, Kometa: that is very likely to be happening! Do you happen to know how to prevent?
I will also start looking for issues over there…

The screenshots you sent me are star ratings not reviews. I have not used Kometa so can’t say how that works.

Ok, thanks, will look into kometa and the link you send. Pretty sure it explains what is happening.
No need to worry about fuzzy things happening at least.

Again thanks for looking into my “issue”!

I’ve never used that particular part of Kometa, just played around with some collections like IMDb top 250, so can’t be all that helpful. Looking at the documentation though, you would have to remove mass_user_rating_update from any of your config files (which also means anything that’s using ratingX: user would be inaccurate). At a glance I’m not seeing a way to reset the ratings though, you’d either need some other script for that, or use multi-select to bulk update ratings.

Thanks for the pointers, I will look into it. The rating itself is not so much the concern.

Ok, I think the rating mechanism on itself is fine: I have kometa fill it with rotten tomatoes.and think it is doing that fine.
My confusion comes from the fact hat plex contributes it to activity of myself (which to a point is true ofcourse :joy:).

So if you want to remove Kometa you can PM me and I can try helping. I went through a similar process when I joined the beta of user reviews. I had long ago used Kometa for star ratings, removed it but realized that Plex “cloud” never got fixed. It was kind of a painful process to get everything properly synced again. If you plan to keep Kometa showing rotten tomato instead of user reviews I would probably ignore all your activity as its probably all sorts of out of whack.

I know just use Kometa for other things (its an excellent tool).
