All my users are experiencing buffering issues on multiple devices (2 samsung as well as PS5) while my account (admin) is able to watch without a single buffer on the same devices.
I have updated to the latest version (Synology Plex) as well as rebooted the server as well as all the viewer devices.
While typing this I tried the same with a windows plex and there is no issues with admin or users.
Are the users in the house, or outside it? Anyone outside will use your ISP’s upload, which for a lot of people can be pathetic compared to their downloads.
Are the users “friends” or do they log in as your account? If they are new users, I think by default their own client wants to restrict video stream speeds to 2 Mbps quality. Check the video quality setting on the player to see if they are self-restricting the quality.
Is the video playing directly? Go to the dashboard and let me know if the video is direct-Played or transcoding the file any differently for your account versus your user’s account.
I’d also like to know what the server is installed on, and if the CPU has spare power when your user streams. I just want to know if the CPU graph on the dashboard seen above, but scroll down to the chart below the one you partially see.
If none of this investigation yields fruit, then I’m stuck. We probably would know for sure quickly by looking at logs, but I don’t know which ones we’d need (server or players) or which log to look at, so I’ve been trying to find what might be the issue from other directions.
