I’ve added a small number of friends to my server. I’m not very proficient at it and have done it a few different ways. Two of my friends show up on my Login Screen, which I thought was mildly annoying, until I was at their house and realized that I show up on their screen and since I stopped using a PIN, they can just choose to be me.
How can I fix this, and is there a recommended procedure to easily setup new friends?
Get your friends to make their own Plex accounts, then invite those email addresses to your server.
When they show up on your login screen, you have created “managed users,” like sub-users for YOUR account. Delete the managed users and make them get real accounts and it will work out.
A full user can also be part of a Plex Home and appear on the login screen (fast user switching).
If the friends already have accounts at Plex, you can remove them from the Plex Home (mouse over name and click on X on far right).
That will remove them from the home. They will still appear under “Manage Library Access” and will still have access to the shared libraries. They will not appear on the login screen.
In the future, use Settings → Manage Library Access to share libraries with others, and do not invite them to be part of your Plex Home.
