Users question

I let a friend of mine use plex on his PS3. He moved out, but forgot his PS3 and his roommate is using it. I have changed my password. Removed the device. How is he still able to watch stuff? How do I remove it lol? I removed it days ago. I just checked and it’s still not on devices.

Did you reboot your plex server after removing the device from the list?

Is he possibly connecting via DLNA? If you turned that on there is no restriction to gain access within a network.

Yes and rebooted the computer

No this is 50 miles away
(Remote user)

Also, I have that turned off to answer your question lol

It’s irritating… They are watching stuff right now. I exit the server and wait a few minutes. Open it back up and within 30 seconds they are back on. The PS3 does not show up under devices. I don’t know how they are still on

Your friend had “own” account in your Plex Home? Managed or real Plex one?
If I remember correctly a real Plex user invited to home will not add devices until you log with your user on it.

No he is a managed user :frowning:

Why don’t you delete him then?

Lol I did !

So, you have removed his managed user, you have deleted his device (PS3) and he is still able to play?
As work around don’t share any libraries with him?

I don’t know how to not share libraries with him when he’s technically not on there. There is no user to remove libraries lol. No PS3 on devices

Even with the user still there how is a device still stay active when there is no device ?

I don’t know really. You need some help from Plex employee it seems there is something wrong with your Plex home.

I have changed my password.

While doing so, did you tick this checkbox? It is crucial.

No I didn’t. I have family members that use it and I didn’t want to have to sign them all back in lol

You have to.
This is the only means to sign out devices which were paired with your own plex.tv account. (And a managed user does use your own plex.tv account).

So then what’s the point in being able to remove devices in the server settings if it doesn’t sign them out

Good question. I am unsure about this. Will relay the question to someone more knowledgeable.

It should log you out after removing device. I’ve done this multiple times with iOS devices, Android or (Open)PHT.
