Users sign in without main user

Hello,
It would be really great for users to sign in directly without the help of the main user, and then set automatic sign in for this user.
Would you do this feature ? It would be really nice as it’s not convenient to sign in first with main user, and we can set automatic sign in from another user but the main
Thanks

You can already do that for regular users.
“Managed users” have a different purpose and are e.g. used for kids whom you don’t want to have their own (full) accounts where they could e.g. pick what online media sources they want to see).

I don’t think they can sign in directly without main user.
It’s written :
“Cannot sign in directly themselves (a full/regular member of the Plex Home needs to sign in first, before switching users)”

That’s my point… it’s by design:

  • Regular users can directly sign into their own devices.
  • Managed users require a full / regular member (e.g. the admin) to sign them into the device to begin with.

TL;DR: don’t use “managed users”.
Instead create a regular plex.tv account with its own set of email address and password.
Then share your media with that account.

yes, it’s what i did, i tried to create regular users, but they can’t have my premium plex (no offline video etc).
So i’d like my children and wife to login with my plex premium pass, but i would prefer they can without my help without to login with my profile first.
We could use the same email adress and password, but my main profile is login by default, thaht i don’t want to.

i’d like they login with main email and password, but then choose there own profile without having acces to my profilen that could change all parametres.

It’s why i suggest a feature request

There is almost no situation where this is necessary, except for web browsers which are on computers which are not your own. Sorry, you just want to avoid that use case with managed users.
Or web browsers which are programmed to erase all cookies at the end of the session. You might wanna take measures so that the cookies from plex.tv are not erased.

On all other types of clients it is practicable for you to take the device and sign it into your plex account, then enable Automatic Logon and Switch Users.
Then hand it back to the user.

i understant, but for exemple, my children are far from home at the moment, in holidays, so they can’t login (maybe a cooky issue, i don’t know), and if i give them my login access, they next log in on my profil that i don’t want as i put a password on it. I would prefer another way to login not on main account, or a way to block access to parametres.
It’s not computers i don’t own, it’s just i don’t have them right now at the moment.
i understant most of time it’s not necessary, but i search a way before asking in here, and i found some people asking the same thing, i don’t think i’m the only one.

I would’ prefer it could be possible… well it’s seems it’s not.
thanks

and sorry for my poor english

Invite Home User, not Create Managed User.

It does exactly what you are asking for. They login themselves, and they get all the Plex Pass benefits of being in a Plex Home.

Soooooo nice !
really thank you @SwiftPanda16 it’s exactly what i need indeed !!

so the feature exist
