I think I might be misunderstanding collections a little, but the documentation I read suggests you can for example setup a collection for ‘Star Wars’ and add the films, tv shows, soundtracks to the collection and see them all in one place.
Now, as far as I can see, a collection is limited by library, and movies/shows/music are all seperate libraries (due to agents) so I don’t see how this is possible.
Is someone able to point me in the right direction, or advise whether I am right or not?
You cannot see all the different media types on one screen like how you describe.
The feature is designed to show other collection items when viewing a specific item already. Using your Star Wars example, if you view the Star Wars collection in your movie library, you will only see movies from that library. However, if you look at the preplay page for any one of these movies, you will see under the cast images a “Star Wars Collection” hub with all movies from all libraries. There will also be a separate “TV Shows in Star Wars Collection” hub listing the TV shows. There can also be one for music.
The secret is to add the soundtrack album to a “new” collection in the music library, which has the exact same name as the existing collection in your movie library.
@OttoKerner I tried that by tagging some movies/tv/albums with ‘Comics’ which I copied/pasted to ensure they were identical. On going into the ‘dark knight’ album, I do not see a ‘collections’ row. Is there something I need to enable somewhere else?
@anon18523487 Sorry, where is the “Collections Preplay” page. The documentation doesn’t seem to say, so am not sure where to look.
@OttoKerner thanks for that, I see that ‘collections’ option in movies and tvshows now. It doesn’t appear in music though, but imagine that is expected?
Great, thanks for the help. I was expecting a ‘Collections’ option to appear on the main LHS like ‘Playlists’ do. Now I know where to look, I should be able to plan my collection better.
