Using labels, need help

i have an issue i need help fixing, i have asked this before but it didnt seem to help.
i have 2 libraries

1, movies ( all ratings)
2, kids movies

each time i add a new movie to the kids movies library, i have to add a label or else it wont show up on my kids account, how can i stop this tiresome task?
someone told me that if i use the exclude label i dont have to add labels to the new movies?

also could someone explain to me waht does the Exclude label do?

thanks,

That most likely means that your kid’s accounts are setup in a way that they only can watch items which have a certain label applied to them.

Seek them out here: https://app.plex.tv/desktop/#!/settings/manage-library-access
then after clicking on thier user name, go to the Restrictions tab.
Which of the four input fields has something in it?
If you used several of them, keep in mind that they interact with each other.

I think you can simplify this. If you go to the Libraries tab, make sure they’ve been granted only access to the Kids movies library. After doing that you can clear out everything on the Restrictions tab.
However, this only works if you don’t give them access to other video libraries, which do have unsuitable content in them. In which case you might have to add back some age ratings on the restriction tab.

i dont think this solves my issues, i still want to be able to share some movies that are not in the kids library

Then you’ll have to decide on how you want to restrict the regular libraries.
You can either go with a “black list” or a “white list” approach.
Your initial posts sounded like you would like a “black list”. i.e. everything is available by default, except when you manually tag a movie as “not for the kids”.

If your movies and shows are accurately tagged with age ratings, you can use these instead. On the Restrictions tab you will have to fill in the ratings which you deem suitable for your kids. i.e. only fill in the field “ALLOW ONLY RATINGS”
(this approach is a bit safer than the reverse “EXCLUDE RATINGS” which always bears the risk that an item is visible which either doesn’t have a rating at all, or only has an unsusual/historical rating)
Which age ratings you have in your library depends on the “language” setting of your library. Inspect a few of those which you want to make available and “edit” them.
Here is an example from my library, which is set to use the German language:

What you see in there is what you need to put into the “… RATINGS” field.

The important thing is to decide on one approach for restrictions.
Because if you try to combine several of the 4 restrictions, their conditions must be all met at the same time, for an item to become visible.

If you use several, you can easily create a catalog of requirements which are met by none of your videos.
