I am running PMS on a Windows desktop, for transcoding videos, and on a WD NAS, for music and photos that don’t require transcoding.
The problem, I have to select which server I want to access. In other words I have to know which one has the video or music I wish to access. If I later opt to create a third server to split movies and TV to reduce server load, this will further complicate finding my choice of media.
Requested solution: Set one server as the Master, able to access all media. Media would be delivered from it’s associated server. This will create a complete media search list of movies, TV, music, and photos in one place. Other servers would be slaves providing info of the files they control to the master.
