Plex media server on windows computer will not play some movie files

Not sure if this issue turned on with one of the server updates but my media server will no longer play one of the movies in my library. I am connecting to the media server via a roku4 to play the movie on a tv. I installed plex media server on my QNAP NAS and it plays the same movie file fine through my roku4. All my movie files are mkv’s. On another note, I can’t get any movies to play in plex on my windows PC. I am guessing that reinstalling plex media server might fix it but am trying to avoid having to set up all my libraries again. Thanks

Please clarify which media player can play what and which can’t.

Are you saying ?

  1. Plex, on your QNAP, plays to your Roku 4 Plex app without issue, with exception of ONE video
  2. None of the movies will play on your Windows PC through Plex/Web

I believe there are two issues here, not related, but both surfaced with the new 2.6 Plex/Web & 0.9.16.4 server.

Sure, so first question…there is one movie that all of a sudden became unplayable through media server on my windows PC. When I copied the same movie file to my QNAP device and set up media server on the QNAP device, the movie plays fine. In both cases, I am connecting to the server with a roku4 to play the movie on my TV. I am wondering if there is a way to fix it without having to reinstall plex media server and reset up all my libraries etc. Thanks
