Is there any way to use share tags (or tags) as a filter for a managed account?
I want to give my kids access to specific content I have on my server without giving them access to live tv/streaming/etc. Apart from moving my content into specific folders only sharing those (which will screw up other things) or adjusting all the ratings for all of my media (which will also screw up things) is there any way to filter the access of a managed account with a tag?
I did have another plex account that I tried to set up and managed, without difficulty, to only share things with a particular share tag… but then they have access to the live tv/etc which I don’t want them to have.
You can use the default restriction profiles (based on content ratings) or configure restrictions yourself. This is the same for friends and managed users.
Similarly you can configure to what other sources a managed user should have access (e.g. online media sources or stuff like live tv).
for friends I can adjust what I share according to tags but I cannot do the same for managed users. I’m trying to avoid allowing my kids their own account (with access to live tv/etc) and still use tags to manage their access to specific content (not based on rating). On managed users I can only block their access to specific libraries or rating, neither of which allows me to use tags in the process. I’m trying to avoid the hassle of moving my media on the drive or changing all the ratings on all of my media.
I figured it out. If you select “none” for the ratings filter then the options for tags comes up during managed account creation but if you select a filter for ratings then it doesn’t. Thank you.
