Nothing to share other than we’re finally getting the major upgrade to the transcoder.
I can’t gauge when but with the new build system done, I would think they can now start making serious progress on it.

I realize roadmaps and schedules aren’t really a thing for Plex, but do you think anticipating VC1 hardware transcode within the next 6 months to a year is reasonable? What about the next 2 years? Is it so nebulous that even attempting an estimate is futile? Should I just proceed under the assumption that it’ll never happen and so if it does, it’s an unexpected bonus? I’m just trying to temper my expectations with a dose of reality.
I hear things about what they are working on but I have nothing to report at this time.
I’m sorry. I am bound by Company Policy.
How come Emby with a smaller team has H264, VC1, VP9, MPEG2 and H265 hardware decoding working?
Plex hasn’t implemented VC1 in hardware yet.
