Version 1.32.5.7210 - Windows

Server Version#: 1.32.5.7210

I’ve noticed this in the release notes

  • (Transcoder) Hardware transcoding is now supported when running Plex Media Server on headless Windows systems (#14332)

What does this really mean?

When running PMS as a system service on Windows. So using e.g. PMS as a service or NSSM.
Playing a video with transcoded video stream.

Previous versions:

Newest version: Use hardware acceleration when available, Use hardware-accelerated video encoding

Thanks!

I always thought the lack of hw transcoding when running PMS as a service was a Windows limitation.

It is, but someone clever found a way around it.

Kudos. Great news.

I guess the next step will be a native PMS service? :grinning:

Well, who knows?
