Very basic question - Understanding rmtp url's and adding them as PMS channel

Hi there,

Sorry for such a basic question but although I've been trying to find an answer diving at the forums I didn't figure it out.

Here's the thing:

I just downloaded a very promising android app that shows up lots of tv channels through rtmp URLs. These are a bit complicated links and can't actually make them work on VLC.

Once you get out of the channel, you're prompted to save the URL as a bookmark so this is where I am getting the URL syntax from.

E.g;

198.105.217.36/stream playpath=farretal?id=106572 swfUrl=http://www.liveflash.tv/resources/scripts/eplayer.swf%20 live=1 pageUrl=http://www.liveflash.tv/embedplayer/farretal/1/645/395 conn=S:OK --live

199.195.195.28/stream playpath=canaldcinehdv?id=105328 swfUrl=http://www.liveflash.tv/resources/scripts/eplayer.swf live=1 pageUrl=http://www.liveflash.tv/embedplayer/canaldcinehdv/1/650/400 conn=S:OK --live

I've tried to unsuccessfully run that a few of these URLs on VLC and they just don't work.

Two questions here:

- How should I rewrite the URL to make it something VLC can work with

and..

- Once I get there, how could I add these as standard PMS channel so I can see them through any of my clients (roku, ipad,..)

Thanks for taking the time for reading.

The only client that can handle live RTMP streams is the Desktop client PMC/PHT. PMS does not transcode live streams.

Also lifeflash, mips.tv, ........ the similar sites like them, you will notice they use this syntax for playpath, playpath=farretal?id=106572, the ip changes every 10 seconds, so you will not be able to play them unless they uses static IP

Thanks you guys!!

Got it. No way then to make that work since:

- Only stable rtmp streams (static ip) can be added to a stream player.

- No way to put PMS in the middle of a live stream.

Topic closed then, I'm afraid.
