Large music library keeps removing then adding albums

Server Version#: 4.108.0

I’ve been noticing my plex music library seems to keep rescanning so I looked at the library itself and it keeps going from the 30000+ albums to in the 20000 range and this morning it was 10000. I’ve been using plex server for a lot of years without issue but now it’s acting up. I’ve tried optimizing it but I’m at a loss. The video areas I have are just fine as is the other “music” section I have, it’s just this library and I do not want to pare it down any suggestions would be appreciated

If your music files are on an NAS or removable drive, take a look at this thread:

Thank you, I’ll try the not empty trash and see how that goes. I appreciate the time you took to reply. I don’t know how I missed that one while searching for threads, well I do but we won’t go there now

If running PMS on Linux, you could be exceeding the number of directories Linux can monitor.

If this is the case, in Plex Media Server.log (and .1.log to .5.log) there will be ERROR messages mentioning “no space left on device.”

Here’s the fix for Linux & Synology. Will be similar for other Linux based systems (QNAP, etc).

Linux fix: Increase the number of directories Linux can monitor (inotify) for PMS

Synology Fix: FAQ 16: Increase the number of folders Plex can monitor
