Very slow sync transcode after update to 1.8.0.4109

I just upgraded to 1.8.0 to fix the issues described in this thread:

After upgrading, changing nothing else, my transcoding is horrendously slow. Files, like all of my Harry Potter movies, which have been transcoded multiple times, used to transcode at 5X on average, it’s now going at 0.5X on average.

I checked my logs and see that it’s full of stuff like this:
Aug 05, 2017 10:13:56.386 [13148] ERROR - [Transcoder] [pcm_s16be @ 03be0020] Invalid PCM packet, data has size 4 but at least a size of 12 was expected. If I log into remote desktop on the server, the CPU is basically idle, disk usage is at 0% on all disks in the box.

Bumping up. An update causing half of my movies to transcode in hours instead of minutes like it used to is hardly acceptable. Has anyone from Plex seen this?

Doing some more playing today, it only appears to be an issue when transcoding for IOS devices. I can have a file going on my iPad, converting at 0.3X, cancel it, start the same movie on my android phone it goes at 5X. Try my roomate’s iPhone it’s slow again around 0.3X. My Android tablet, back up to 5X.

The log originally provided is syncing to my iPad. with this realization I searched forum and found lots of people having issues where IOS is really slow to sync for them but theirs all seemed to be on the download.

Knock Knock, anyone there plex?
