VEWD app causing Plex Server to crash

Player Version#: Current Vewd player on HiSense and Philips smart TVs

I note there’s what appears to be a similar, older thread regarding Vizeo TVs. I do not know if Vizeo TVs use the same player as the Vewd app store offers. I have two smart TVs – a 5-year-old 50" HiSense, and a more recent 48" Philips. Both have access to the Vewd app store (formerly known as Opera TV) and a Plex app installable through that app store.

I’ve only just installed the Plex Media Server on this computer, in hopes of making more of my media files (I have a metric butt-ton of media on this thing!) available to my smart TVs than their native, in-built, network video players.

While the Roku Plex App connected to my HiSense TV is able to connect to my Plex Server without ill effect, when I connect to it using the Vewd app from either TV, it can find the server, offer me my account to log into, but as soon as I’ve entered my PIN, the Plex Server on my PC crashes.

Great to get a fairly quick response with potentially-helpful guidance! (I won’t know for sure until I’ve cleaned out the current version and installed the suggested one.)

I presume you’re working on a fix for later versions?

The fix is in the current beta version which is slated for public release sometime this week.

Latest update, released 20 minutes ago that addresses crashes with some clients.

Plex Media Server 1.18.7.2434 is now available in the Beta update channel.

FIXES:
Certain clients could make a request that would crash the server (#11154)

Having just begun using Plex yesterday, I’m not brave enough for a beta, but if the public release is expected this week, I’ll just wait for that. Thanks very much!

So I installed the new version day before yesterday, and for a few glorious hours, all was well…

And now the Plex server just crashes for no apparent reason, connected or not, after running for a few minutes.

Frustrating.

Start a new thread in the Plex Media Server section and post the PMS logs.
