Video breadcrumb thumbnails are shown for a different Video

When playing a newly added video, if I attempt to skip forward or backwards in the video timeline, the thumbnails that are shown to preview the location of the video are of a completely different movie. Regardless of which video I am watching, I always have the thumbnail previews from the same film.

Any ideas on what might be going on and how to fix? I’ve tried re-analysing / deleting and adding and neither make a difference.

I’m using the web based Plex media player (2.6.1) in Safari on a Mac. The server is also running on another Mac with PMS version 0.9.16.6. Both Mac’s are running El Capitan version 10.11.5.

Thanks,

J.

Probably the generation of Video Preview Thumbnails for new movies is deferred until the nightly maintenance run.
You can check under Settings - Server - Library - ‘Generate video preview thumbnails’

I agree it is stupid to attempt to show them when they not exist yet. I will report the issue once I have confirmed it on my server.

In the meantime you can opt to create the thumbnails as soon as the movie gets added into the library (which creates considerable cpu load and may take up to 15-20 minutes per movie). If you analyze a single movie, the video preview gets created at once, if it’s not present already.

Thanks for the suggestion. Currently, I have the library set to update on an hourly basis and also when any changes are detected in any media folder. Additionally, this issue is occurring on multiple videos added over the last few days.

This “library update interval” is completely separate from what I was explaining.

Doh! Thanks - spotted it right at the bottom. Was set to only generate as a scheduled task. I’ve changed it to scheduled and as media is added. Interestingly though, I wonder why none of the previews for videos added over the last few days have been added?

I’ll let this run over the next few days and see if the situation resolves itself. Thanks!
