I suddenly started getting problems this weekend after months of no problems. I am using the latest PlexPass PMS version with the latest PlexConnect (at 1 December). Movies play fine from PMS to the Plex client on an iPhone, which can play them to an Apple TV2 with no problem. However when I use PlexConnect on the ATV2, the movie starts and plays as normal for 7 to 10 minutes when video suddenly freezes although audio continues as normal. Stopping and starting from the play so far will not bring back video.
I have checked all the settings and all seems fine. Interestingly, this problem does not affect TV shows which all play normally. The problem seems to affect both avi and mp4 files.
I have looked in logs but there is nothing obvious.
What happens if you force direct play on mo4 files?
I'll try that out later tonight. I assum you mean 'mp4'...
It might take a while to test though. For me the problem starts midway through a movie, maybe 30-40mins of perfect play, then black screen, audio but no video. Might also occur after skipping ahead or going back. I too had no problems since inception of Plexconnect.
Mac Mini server (latest public version, plexpass version hangs on Mavericks)
had now idea that feature even existed. Will test that and report back. How do we do this for python exactly? Don’t have a python app, just terminal and python launcher app(that I do t use).
Same problem recently only in ATV, haven’t had any problems prior to the last week or so. Most recent PlexPass PMS, most recent PlexConnect. Little skips a few times a minute or every few minutes. Changing to transcode fixed the problem for me as well. On 10.8.5.

What have you changed in the last couple of weeks?
This popped up on my system a few weeks back as well. Windows Plex server running latest (plexpass) of everything. The switch to transcoding fixes it, but all my media is in MP4 format, and shouldn't need to be transcoded. It even does this on media I purchased and DRM stripped from itunes.
I noticed that files I've had this issue on are not optimized for streaming. I am running them through subler optimize to see if that makes any difference. However, this setup and these files had worked fine for many months before this cropped up.
