can you review the volume of ads? the plex ad in particular is extremely loud versus the actual content.
Sure. Which ads in particular?
the plex+tidal ad is obnoxiously LOUD
the other ads are louder than the content, but that may also depend on the specific content.
other ad examples father/son doing breakfast, norton lifelock something or other, linked in, and a couple others I canāt remember off the top of my head
videos I watched so far, terminator 1, bmx bandits
really, any of this should be self evident if you simply go watch some content with headphones on.
someone created a new thread @ Ads are way to loud in free movies and tv so I suppose we should use that going forward
I mean, when you point out the big thing at the top of the forum, of course it is obvious
(not like I didnāt read it a few times every time I came here

LOL!
These things happen
This is a question from quite a bit lower level.
Would Any internet streaming content actually use the server as a āmid-pointā before streaming to a client?
I know this appears to be answered implicitly, but I would rather have an explicit answer to be sure. Since I will be buying a switch based on this information and other things I have running in that network area.
If by āanyā you mean āany Plex online servicesā then the answer is is currently, no. You donāt even have to have a Plex server installed to use any of these online services, you merely need a Plex account:
- VOD Movies & TV
- Podcasts
- Web Shows
- Tidal
- News
I have a question that I think is infrastructure related? @kinoCharlino
Iām seeing different results on the WebApp vs. what I see on the Roku. I understand there can be some regional differences, but Iām sitting in StL in both cases. The biggest example of this is that in the WebApp, I only see two TV shows. On the Roku, there are several more. (I havenāt counted)
Also, thereās some really cool categories on the Roku (such as Plex Picks and Most Popular) that Iād like to see on the WebApp, but theyāre not present. Iād like to see those match, specifically so I can add those to my home screen on the WebApp.
I will never watch this service until ads are <= as loud as the movie Iām playing. I just almost blew out my speakers with some pathetic āWinstar Casinoā ad. I had to emergency turn off my tv. One ad, the first ad shown, sealed the fate.
Iāve reported the ad loudness issues to our ad folks.
That is definitely odd behavior. Are you using a restricted (managed) user on web by accident? Do have a proxy turned on? The geo restrictions could be kicking in due to the proxy exit country.
Interestingly enough, this does seem to vary by PC, which may help make sense. If it helps, I do not have any managed users. Only my admin profile exists under this account.
Iām seeing limited titles and categories on my work PC. I work for a domestic company, which I believe tags me as Minneapolis when I attempt things that require geolocation on the web.
On my home PC in StL, which is on a VPN which flags me to Chicago, I end up with all the categories I would hope to see.
Having typed that out, I could see how there might be a difference seen on both PCs, but one wouldnāt think thereād be much of a difference between Minneapolis, Chicago, and StL.
