Video Optimization for Photo Library

I didn’t find any topics on this. Video optimization is wonderful. I have 4K video that I shot on my phone, but most items don’t support it yet and my server isn’t powerful enough to trans-code it back to 1080p. I also love that Plex now allows me to keep my family videos in my family photos library. Now it’s all in the same place like it should be.

Unfortunately, it seems that photo libraries do not yet support the video optimization feature. I would love to see this feature migrate over to photo libraries.

By the way, thanks Plex Team for all the awesome things you do. I’ve been a huge fan for years now. You rock!

i have the exact same problem. my Nexus 5x shoot 4k and i use the Camera Sync feature to backup my pictures and movies i take. The problem is that Plex on Chrome (locally) or any remote stream through the app cant handle the 4k stream. my CPU takes a 90% + hit and causes the video to pause or complain about the server being slow.

you have the feature in other library types, enabling it for Photo’s hopefully wouldn’t be that hard (famous last words ;))!

+1 I need this feature like air

+1 I also take 4K video with my phone and having Plex optimize all the videos to 1080p for easy consumption would be great!

Running into same issue; “Optimize” should be available for ALL video content, regardless of the Library type.

+1

Was looking for this feature today and eventually realized it was only Photos (and videos) libraries that don’t support this.

The main reason I use Plex is to stream my photo/video library, few applications allow one to put up a slide show of both photos and videos seamlessly. The Photos library is great for this!
