Video playback on Android Shield TV and Android stutters then crashes

Player Version#: 8.15.1.23935

On both Android and Android Shield, when playing a video it plays fine for a couple of minutes and then starts to stutter and becomes unresponsive to pause/play/forward/etc then Plex crashes and restarts.
Playback via Web Player and Windows 10 app both work fine with no issues on same network.
