Video Playback Stops After Resume from iPad Lock Screen

Platform: iPad (iPadOS)
App Version: 2025.13.0 (1025)
Device: iPad Pro 6e gen
OS Version: iPadOS 18.4.1

Bug Description:
When using the new Plex iOS app on my iPad, I’ve noticed an issue with video playback behavior after pausing and resuming from the lock screen.

Steps to Reproduce:

  1. Start playing a video in the Plex app.
  2. Pause the video.
  3. Let the iPad auto-lock (or lock it manually).
  4. After some time, unlock the iPad and resume the video.

Expected Result:
The video should resume playing from the point it was paused and continue without interruption.

Actual Result:
Only the portion of the video that was previously buffered plays. After that buffered section finishes, the video stops entirely and does not continue playback. I have to manually restart playback to get it going again.

Additional Notes:

  • The issue is consistently reproducible.
  • Network connection is stable (Wi-Fi).
  • This did not occur before the big overhaul

I was experiencing the same issue on version 2025.13. Version 2025.14 became available yesterday. Can you try upgrading?

I updated to version 2025.14, now when the buffer runs out, I see a loading spinner and the video continues but jumps back a few seconds.
The quality is downgraded, HD video is all of a sudden transcoded to SD video and I’m directly connected on the local network. No reason to do so.
