Evening!
Those are fair questions...
-- I have not encountered this behaviour when watching shows directly within Chrome/Browser
I'm afraid you misunderstood my request for results on a PC.
Results of watching a show in a web browser have no bearing on this issue.
What we need to know is what results you get with the PC version of PHT = "Plex Home Theater", which is exactly the same program as RasPlex, except for being implemented on a different computer platform. RasPlex is based on PHT source code, so any bug that is present in PHT will almost certainly be replicated in RasPlex, and will be fixed in the RasPlex release following after that bug has been fixed in the main PHT project by the programmers of Plex Inc.
But if the bug does not exist in PHT on a PC, then it is RasPlex-specific and needs to be fixed in RasPlex coding directly.
So we need to know if the bug also occurs when casting show episodes to the PC version of PHT, in exactly the same way that you normally cast such episodes to the RasPlex version of PHT.
Another quirk here which I observed three times now, has been that the Audio will start, but no Video. At the same time, the video/show stays on the summary screen. We were able to in the latest scenario just stop the show, and restart it at which point it played correctly.
Audio without video seems like a CODEC issue, which leads me to ask a series of questions:
What CODEC info do you have for these videos ?
Do you have the optional RPi CODEC licenses installed (by editing "config.txt") ?
Is the problem intermittent for a given video (so that it sometimes works and sometimes not),
or is it consistent for each video (so that a failing one always fails that way) ?
Do these symptoms change if you switch the video quality settings between "Direct Play" and bitrate limits ?
