Hello,
Since Rasplex updated I have this issue where I’ll watch a TV show (not movies for some reason) and after about 4 minutes of watching the show the video goes away and Plex goes back to the home screen.
The audio still plays but I have to use the Plex app remote to stop the video and re-open.
What’s weird is movies I haven’t had any issues with.
Anyone know what this could be?
All I can say is that I’ve used v0.4.0 rc1 since shortly after its release, watching several TV show episodes each day, and the problem you describe never happened to me. I also haven’t seen reports by anyone else of the same problem (though there have been other problems).
Best regards: dlanor
n confirm I had the exact same issue. I had wondered if it was related to running rasplex over wireless. But I've rolled back to the previous version I was running 0.9.9.20. and everything is working properly again.
- Raspberry Pi , 512)
- SD card 8G Class 10
- Wifi using TPLink TL-WN822n
- Version of RasPlex 0.4.0 RC1
- Rasplex installed via rasplex Windows installed
- Best description you can give of the problem
- Steps to reproduce: Play any TV Show or Movie
- PMS Server 0.9.9.97.429 running on Windows 7 x64
I can reinstall 0.4.0RC1 on an older class 8 card and retest if needed but I'm content to stay on 0.9.9.20 until the new stable release comes out. 0.9.9.20 is pretty darn good
@NickH - are you able to log a bug using the steps below? I probably should have done so before I rolled back

Have the same issue
I have the same problem.
I'm not really sure, but it only seems to happen, when i control the Rasplex trough Android App (--> "Connect to" option). After 3 or 4 times this happens, i stopped the show rebootet raspi and controlled it trough my TV Remote (CEC) startting from this point problem did not appear again. Not shure if it was the reboot or the TV Remote who solves the problem...
I had my Cat suspected, because she was lying on my mobile :-) Glad to see other's have the same problem, ok not really glad because looks like bug.
@zippy
Sorry I couldn’t deal with it so I reverted back to 9.9.20 which has fixed the issue. I also am using the android app to control my media.
Hopefully someone can provide a log.
Same issue, rolled back, no log file... sorry :( im impatient
If my math is correct five people so far have reported this problem in this thread, and of those five at least two have mentioned using a remote app for controlling RasPlex, with the others not explicitly mentioning how they control RasPlex. But if they truly mean what they say by the words "same issue", then they probably use the android app as well.
In addition to these facts we also have one of those five reporting that when using another way to control RasPlex, all his problems disappeared.
So it seems we may have identified the remote control of RasPlex (at least by the android app) as being responsible for these problems.
I believe this means that the key to the problem must lie in the remote control server built into RasPlex and how it launches the playback of media files.

Exactly my issue. Controlling through android app and ~4 minutes in the audio is still playing by the tv shows the details of the show/movie I was watching. Just tried using the 'remote' function from the android app and that seems to work fine.
I now believe this problem to be identical or at least related to a bug in ‘upstream’ PHT.
Tobias Hieta (PHT Dev) has recognized that there is a bug in how media is cast to PHT from Android, and plans a fix for next PHT release.
You can read about it in the thread reached through this link.
Once that PHT release has been made it should be easy to include the same fix in a new RasPlex version.

Thank you dlanor.
Just came to the forums to search out this same issue.
If I started the TV Show from the Plex App on Android, the show / video would cut out at ~4-5 minutes in.
If started from the TV Remote (Harmony 1100), It would not do it.
If i connected to the player with my Android app, but controlled and started it playing from the TV Remote, it would still happen.
Please check with RC2 if this issue is still there.
I'll check with Tobias otherwise on what the status is.
I have not seen it in 2 shows, one started with Plex Android App and the other started with TV Remote and attached to the player after starting it.
Thanks again for another timely released.
It still occured to with me using the android remote. One TV show worked, the other one didn't. I've rolled back to 9.20 again

To be honest I didn't expect this 'RasPlex 0.4.0 RC2' release to fix that problem.
Like Tobias Hieta said in the thread I linked to above, there's a definite bug in the PHT code 'upstream' from RasPlex.
So the bug fix will have to be implemented in a normal PHT release before it can 'trickle down' to a RasPlex port.
On the bright side, he did seem very certain of having found the bug, and promised a fix for the next PHT release.
So whenever that release is made the fix can then be ported to RasPlex as well.

Hi.
I confirm that point, have the same issue here.
All working like a charm when I use the TV remote and launch movie or TV show.
I'm waiting for the next release of PHT with eagerness.

Yeah I assumed it wouldn't work either, but thought it was worth a test. I'm happy to stay on 9.20 which for me is both stable and pretty much fully functional.
Yep, just had it happen on 1 show again with RC2.
This happens to me too and I also use the Android app to control it. I actually use 2 apps - the Plex app as it's so much quicker for actually finding media unless it's on the deck, and the XBMC remote app.
The symptoms of this bug are exactly the same as if you are using the XBMC remote and push the very top button (which I believe is actually what that button is supposed to do), therefore if I hit that button again it brings the show back to full screen.
My thinking is that either:
1) It's interpreting something as that button press (highly unlikely)
or
2) It's doing the new feature it does whereby the Plex client mirrors the Android app (for example if you go to an episode's info on the app it also shows on the TV), and for some reason after 4 minutes it re-sends it's status.
I'm not at home right now so can't test this, but can someone try using the android app to start a show, hitting the "connect to" button, then disconnecting from the plex client? That may work as a workaround...
