I tried watching a media file that I own. Plex has added advertising to my playback. This never happened before. I’d like to watch my videos without interruption. Also, my subtitle options have been removed. Can anyone help with both of these?
You accidently picked one of Plex’s free on demand videos. Occasionally this happens if you have the same title in your personal library Plex offers for free
Also, why your subtitles are missing
@JaysPlex is correct.
It’s an easy mistake to make if Plex’s streaming stuff is pinned to your sources. If you pin it, it adds it to your recommendations… It will even suggest their streaming version of your shows in Continue Watching.
Unpin Plex’s stuff and you are less likely to stumble on it by mistake.
(I wish I could pin a source but also say “please don’t ever suggest things from this source, I ONLY want to browse it.”)
Hello, I have the same issue with the adverts showing in my personal playlist. Why am I subjected to these when I have a Plex Pass and I’m watching my own media.??!? Fortunately I can Fast Fwd through them, but still, it makes the Plex Pass less desirable.!
1st – Plex doesn’t add ads to your personal content.
As explained above, the most common confusion happens if users “accidentally” stream media from Plex’ video-on-demand catalog (e.g. because they’ve pinned it to their sidebar and pick an item from its hubs on the home screen / picking an item from a watchlist that’s available on Plex / …).
Usually you don’t get to fwd through ads in media from Plex’ video-on-demand service (as that’s what pays for you watching the media)… so… could it be this is media you’ve recorded that didn’t remove/detect the ads that aired for that movie/show?
Thanks for the heads up feedback. I need to investigate further as I verified with Cyberlink Power DVD that there are no commercials and I can definitely Fast Fwd the advert content on Plex. Strange!
