Videos not showing correct title

I have a lot of video’s and it goes out and matches them against a database and when it does that I have some video’s that show the wrong name making it very confusing when trying to watch something. How can I turn this off? Also there’s some folders that don’t show video’s when yet there are video’s in there. Is there some file formats it won’t read?

Make sure you are following Plex’s naming & organization guidelines. This will help Plex correctly match your media and retrieve the correct metadata.

Note that Plex is much pickier with TV shows than movies. Plex matches TV shows against TheTVDB.com. Follow the season & episode organization on that site, even if it seems incorrect.

Also, check the Plex agent settings. They determine what sources Plex uses to match media. Access PMS via Plex Web, then go to Settings → Agents. Additional info is available in Agents documentation.

Movie example:

/Movies
   /Avatar (2009)
      Avatar (2009).mkv

TV Show example

/TV Shows
   /Grey's Anatomy
      /Season 01
         Grey's Anatomy - s01e01.avi
         Grey's Anatomy - s01e02 - The First Cut is the Deepest.avi

Plex does not support disc image formats such as ISO files. There may be other reasons Plex is not scanning your media. These two support docs may help.

Also, for media that is incorrectly matched, you may have to perform the Plex Dance if you modify the file name & organization. This clears the incorrect information out of the Plex database before attempting to re-match things.

Thanks I turned it off and yes it was TV shows that were showing this. No it’s not ISO files it will not recognize. They are simple .MKV files and when I open the folder it doesn’t show anything.

How do you have them named/organized?
Can you provide a directory listing?

I have Seinfeld all seasons and none of them show. Another I"m trying to view now Breaking Bad Season 3 and it just doesn’t see one of the episodes.

Don’t add the series folders to plex. Take these two series for example.

/TV Shows
   /Grey's Anatomy
      /Season 01
         Grey's Anatomy - s01e01.avi
         Grey's Anatomy - s01e02 - The First Cut is the Deepest.avi
         Grey's Anatomy - s01e03.mp4

   /Seinfeld
      /Season 01
         Seinfeld - s01e01.avi
         Seinfeld - s01e02 - Episode of Seinfeld.avi
         Seinfeld - s01e03.mp4

Do not add the two folders /TV Shows/Grey's Anatomy & /TV Shows/Seinfeld to plex library. Instead, add only the folder /TV Shows and plex will scan and find your series.
