Videos Not Transcoding

Hello,

I am currently experiencing an issue with Plex Media Server not converting/transcoding media. Whenever I play any media file, it just infinitely loads. If I press pause while it’s attempting to load, it will give me an error saying “Conversion failed. The transcoder exited due to an error.” This error occurs in the web app as well as mobile (iOS version 7.17).

I looked in the logs attached above, but I only see errors for an XML file schema. After Googling this error, everyone seems to say it’s safe to ignore, but I’m not sure what is wrong. I checked permissions within the entire /var/lib/plexmediaserver and even ran chmod on it all with 755 permissions and plex owner/group, nothing changed. It has no issue scanning any of my files, and all of my files have the same permissions. I am not trying to watch any of these videos with subtitles, just as they come.

Anyone have any insight as to what the cause could be? Thanks.

Do you get the same error in a different browser? (not Opera) Does it happen with a different video file? A movie for example

Yes, I have also tried it on Google Chrome and get the same result. I have tried it with about 5 different files and all give the same issue, I am able to play the video outside of Plex just fine.

Well… it seems to have resolved itself so I’m not sure. I guess I’ll be back if I have anything else come up. :crazy_face:
