Videos using the multiple parts feature in Plex to not continue to the 2nd part

Do we have any new updates on this?

Any update on this? I have a library of original Dr Who files that are broken into the original episodes as they aired (each story was a 4 parter (more or less)). Plex is grouping them together properly, but will not play the full episode. This is happening on iPad app and on my web browser.
PS- I’m running Version 1.21.1.3876 on a synology DS920+

No update. It will be announced with the release notes if/when it’s implemented.

(AndroidTv on Sony Bravia) If/when? I though plex was suposedly offering a service, with clients and a revenue. If/when it’s implemented is not good enough for a basic feature video players have supported for over decade.

If we upvote it as a feature request, will it get fixed?

Imagine if you bought a CD player that only played the first track.

Thank you, @anon18523487 for keeping us up to date even without having the good news we all are waiting for.

May I kindly ask to just ping the developers about it as it means that movies cannot be played correctly and not just some cosmetical change?

For my part, I really would appreciate the effort. Thank you in advance, pal.

ā€œIf/whenā€ Wow. This issue isn’t isolated to me, it’s clearly an issue for many users. Also, I just dropped $150 on a lifetime plex pass…this type of response is making me rethink that purchase.

I literally followed Plex’s naming convention on my files, Plex automatically stacks the files, and then prevents me from watching them all. This seems like a serious bug that needs fixing.

Can plex provide a separate method for naming my files that will prevent Plex from combining them all so I can watch all 4 parts of a single episode via Plex?

As previously mentioned, it’s not a bug. It’s something that was never implemented in the app. It is still on the team’s to do list to implement, just not at the top.

How did you name and match these? Both TheTVDB and TheMovieDB lists each part as individual episodes, so there is no 4 part episode. If you want to play these in groups, that’s not something Plex supports. These should be individual episodes and you play them individually.

I believe you are ā€œmissing the forest for the trees,ā€ here. Stacked files are supported on Plex Server, Plex Client for Roku, and Plex Client for browsers. It is not supported on IOS/Android. We’re not looking for advice on how to join our AVI/MP4 files – we’re looking for you to prioritize this basic component that is supported on all other platforms, but Android/IOS.

A lot of us paid good money for this application to have a unified and pleasant experience across all of our devices. Isn’t that one of the primary functions of Plex?

I understand, but I don’t set the priorities. I just looked and I don’t see that an official feature request has been made for this. If you want to try increasing the priority to get this done, make a feature request and see how many people are interested in this.

Wow. Honestly?
All my feature votes are blocked.
You are already well aware that this is a feature request of many users but Plex is ignoring it since it is not in the formally correct forum session?
This really leaves me baffled.

There are literally more than a dozen threads about that and ALL users see this as a bug since the former player had that feature and people are assuming that some bug stops the player from continuing to support split files.

This is how it looks for the users.

Technically, you may be right that it is not implemented, but in my view this argument is only guarding the fact that the new player has not full functionality.
Please go for it… the new player is not so brand new any longer…

It is not being ignored. It’s a matter of priorities.

And this is why it’s hard to judge the demand for this feature. That’s why we ask for a feature request so we can get a better idea of the actual demand.

Like I said, it’s already on the Todo list, but there are lots of stuff on that list and the devs can’t get to all of them right away.

Is there any way we can push up the priority for this bug?

Yes, make a feature request.

Can you provide us with instructions on how to do this?

Go here.

Then create a new topic with the title of the feature you want. Something like

Android - Support multi part files

If there are a lot of votes, I can use that to ask the devs to raise the priority.

Please create also a second feature request for allowing for more simultanous votes

The number of votes is limited so users also have to prioritize what they want too. If you could vote for everything, there would be no point in voting.

Yeah. All my votes are stuck in important feature requests that do not get attention in years. Do you suggest that I abandon these in order to ā€œprioritizeā€? That concept has its own logic. You are not following absolute votes in creating features. And that’s why that ā€œprioritizeā€ concept is flawed. The user should prioritize but you don’t follow the same concept, but you also don’t cancel feature requests you don’t want to implement. Of course, my votes still being stuck in those feature request should tell you something.

Of course, then I cannot ā€œwantā€ something else
Therefore, I am writing it in this very thread … which obviously does not count.
