Can your server transcode? afaik those formats need to be burned into video
Hmmm… I think yes. But I get stuck with an orange rotating circle forever. I’ve no idea if the server (a Synology) is trying to transcode or not. I think these subtitles are graphical and not textual, so maybe they require more power. In case, is it possible to configure Plex to ignore them?
I mean, if my TV/Server can’t play ASS, VOBSUB and similar subtitles, I think it’s better Plex not to let me select (see) them.
You Synology may only be able to transcode limited things. What model Synology is it?
If you set the burn subtitles setting in the app to Never it will try to not transcode ASS. ( VOBSUB will still need a transcode
It’s a DS718+. I don’t think it’s powerful enough to transcode in real time.
Sorry, where is the “burn subtitles” option in the Plex settings? I always get lost in that labyrinth. ![]()
Edit: found. I’ll try to set “only image formats” (there’s not “never”, only “automatic”, “only image formats” and “always”) and see what happens (tomorrow, now I’m too sleepy).
Many thanks for your help @BigWheel
