Viewing extras for a movie that is not yet out?

I was hoping to add, and view, trailers for a movie that is not yet out. My Plex server’s directory structure looks like this.

Movies/
    My Movie (2019)/
        Trailers/
            Trailer 1.mp4
            Trailer 2.mp4

Is this not supported? Plex seems to just ignore this directory entirely. I’m using Plex server 1.15.1.791, for what it’s worth.

Plex will only consider local media assets that belong to an available movie / item in your library. Once you add Movies > My Movie (2019) > My Movie (2019).ext to that structure, Plex should also include the trailers.

That mostly defeats the purpose of supporting movie trailers as extras, IMO. I was able to get around this by placing a stand-in file for now, but it would be nice if Plex supported this without workarounds.
