Just purchased a new Vizio D-series TV and can’t get the Plex app to connect to the local Plex server. It does connect because I see it added to the connected devices list. I have reset the app, manually entered the IP of the server, and have multiple Rokus, phones, and laptops connected so it is available and working.
Could you try changing Settings → Advanced → Prefer Insecure Connections to On same network as server and make sure Allow Insecure Connections is set to the same, then restart the app. If that doesn’t work you could try setting them both to Always and restarting the app.
When I open the Plex App on the Vizio TV it opens but when I try to select my Server it shows the the server is currently unavailable. I also have a button to retry but it doesn’t help.
Thanks again for you help! I really appreciate it! Please let me know if you have any more questions.
So one last thing to try would be changing Settings → Advanced → Prefer Insecure Connections to Always, make sure Allow Insecure Connections is set to the same and add your server to Manual Servers then restart the app.
Ok, tried that but no changes. Still not connecting. It does connect to Plex and we can see web shows. But it doesn’t connect to our local Plex server.
I do see it connect in Console when I look. Not sure is that helps.
I was able to finally get this working by adding the Vizio TV’s IP to the “List of IP addresses and networks that are allowed without auth” (Server/Settings/Network).
