Updated to latest PMS running on FreeNAS. Player installed on Mac (using both new Plex and the old (but updated) Plex Media Player on Mac).
I have set the language options to:
Prefer audio tracks in English
Subtitle mode: Manually selected
Prefer subtitles in Danish
I then setup a recording in the DVR on a channel that has subtitles embedded.
Then I go to the active recording and select play from start. Playback starts without problems. If I then go to settings on the playback and choose the subtitle and select a DVB_SUBTITLE element, then I get this error:
Cannot convert this item. Implementation for subtitle encoder ‘vobsub’ not found.
and the playback aborts/returns to menu
From now on, I’m not able to start playback of this element anymore. I just get the same error over and over again.
From the “Plex Media Server.log” it says:
Aug 26, 2019 21:25:38.828 [0x80f24dc00] ERROR - Streaming Resource: Cannot make a decision because either the file is unplayable or the client provided bad data
Aug 26, 2019 21:25:38.917 [0x80f24dc00] ERROR - Unable to find client profile for device; platform=osx, platformVersion=10.13, device=, model=standalone
If I wait for the recording to finish or cancel the recording, then I am able to go to playback, and select the subtitle and then it will turn on subtitles (also the same subtitle track that I tried during playback of live recording).
so it appears to be related to the live tv part rather than features installed/enabled on either client or server.
