Volume control does not work on (an) android 12 device

The volume control stays at full no matter what I set the volume to when I play a movie with the plex player on the android app. When i restart the device, it fixes the problem until I fast forward and the volume jumps up again. The device is a lenovo tablet running crdroid. Also when I play the videos through and external player like vlc, the volume is fine.

I found a few people describing the same problem but I have not found a solution:

On my phone (running Android 12), however, this problem does not seem to happen at all.

Any ideas?

maybe this is the problem? the user on reddit also says they are running a custom ROM. I don’t think any of us are running custom roms to test this. but i will ask folks

Thank you. I was kind of suspecting that that could have been the source of the issue as well but I didn’t know how to confirm it.
