Volume control?

It’s not a bug - exclusive mode bypasses all the OS level stuff and so we wouldn’t expect to allow controls there. It’s intended for if you’ve hooked the HTPC up to a receiver etc. It should be off by default though - did you put it on yourself, or do we have an issue there?

I probably put it on myself when I first installed PMP, thinking that it would be a good way to avoid things like Facebook messages and IRC highlights dinging while I’m watching something. In the end it just did not-quite what I expected, which is on me for poking at advanced settings without reading the docs first. Cheers!

Putting softvol=yes into the mpv.conf makes it always use the PMP internal mixer.

The Plex teams do a wonderful job but in this area I believe they are seriously underestimating the intelligence of their user base and/or they are trying to avoid actually producing documentation and relying on keeping the interface “simple.”

I think most wanting a ‘simple’ it works tm product probably use roku’s, apple tv’s,… and the more advanced user uses PHT for the fine grain control it offers.

Something like a simple ‘export mode’ toggle on the general tab that then enables a bunch of fine gain control could be a solution. Not sure what you’re doing… don’t enable that. The defaults seems to be sane but aiming for the lowest possible commonality is not the way to go.

Edit: Even having that toggle in the conf file would be OK, but editing all of those in the conf would be a pain. Although acceptable I guess as someone will probably make a PMP-advanced settings editor :stuck_out_tongue:

Did this ever get resolved/added? I’ve got Plex Media Player (latest preview version from Plex Pass) running on a wall-mounted Windows 8.1 system. I’ve got Plex Companion available to me via iOS devices but I can’t seem to find a way to control the volume (remotely). And when in full screen mode, I can’t even access the Volume Control from the taskbar with the mouse. Don’t really want to have to the keyboard out just to use the + and - keys (or the keyboard volume keys) :stuck_out_tongue:

(When I searched, this was the only thread to come up)

PMP has internal volume control now, though I’m not sure if it can be controlled via companion.

Okay, color me dense. How does internal volume control apply to my use case?

Wall-mounted PC (all in one), full screen, no keyboard. How do I change the volume?

Or if it doesn’t apply/work in this specific case, how does one make use of “internal volume control” generally?

Thanks.

(Well, never mind, I’m going to go with a 3rd-party solution, used very successfully in the past, that will let me control Plex via wifi)

+1. My biggest complaint with using Plex/RasPlex at this time.

I use a pc in a closet to control my receiver I do not want to walk upstairs to change volume or get off the couch!!! Need this or no plex!
