Volume Leveller function on Android/IOS Plex Amp - where is it please?

I use Plex Player on an iPad to play music throughout the night because a young family member has insomnia and it helps her settle. The Volume Leveller function available on IOS is invaluable for this but I cannot find the equivalent option on Plex Amp (IOS or Android), am I missing the setting somewhere? Thanks.

Your server needs to analyze the loudness of each of your albums first, before this can be used.
Enable it on your server https://support.plex.tv/articles/200289526-library/
“Analyze audio tracks for loudness”
Once it has analyzed every album in your library, you can use it.

(Important: if you have created “Frankenstein albums”, combining tracks from different sources into one album, the loudness analysis will probably not work correctly.)

This feature will only change the volume of a whole track, it will not change the loudness of loud parts within a track (i.e. it will not apply dynamic compression).

Hi Otto, thanks for that, I have analyzed my music and was hoping for a dynamic compression for all tracks played so it remains relatively level throughout the night instead of the above, is that what the loudness levelling available on iPad does as that seems to work well?

Yes, this feature is intended to level out the loudness from album to album.
However, it is made for music lovers. As such, it will not apply additional compression. i.e. if you have an album or a track which is itself very dynamic, Plex will not mess with that.

If you need such a thing you should look for the inbuilt features of your devices.
I cannot talk about about the feature of iOS, as I don’t use them. Though I wonder why you shouldn’t be able to use them while playing with plexamp on iOS.
If it’s a system-wide setting, it should affect the audio playback of any app.

Hi Otto,

thank you very much for your comprehensive reply
