Wake pc for DVR recording

I assumed that plex dvr would work like WMC and other dvr’s and wake the PC when a recording is coming up. Much to my surprise it does not… So, considering plex doesn’t even have power management for the stable build of the media streamer, I assume they will not be implementing it for DVR.

If I am wrong please let me know. I have not turned up anything in searches.

So my question is this. Is there away to access the recording schedule database so an external script could be written to accomplish this task?

If not, will there be an API accessible for the recording schedule in the future?

Just another user that wants to save some money on power.

Thanks.

You, I, and several others I know of are surprised by the lack of Plex DVR’s ability to awaken their PCs! What an omission, which seems to be creating many an unhappy camper! (Shouldn’t be all that big of a deal for Plex to implement, without us having to go through hoops to build our own workarounds.) Get with it, Plex! This is why I bought PlexPass in the first place!

I personally would rather see them focus on fixing issues like:

  1. Multiple devices/tuners not being able to be utilized.
  2. Closed Captioning/Subtitles not working for those with disabilities
  3. Transcoder that apparently dies while recording or assembling finished recording into a complete single recorded file leaving user having to restart server and loosing recordings.
  4. Live TV that works across all devices/platforms

These are just the top 4 issues I would like to see resolved before Plex even attempts to add waking computers to record an episode. Waking my server that already stays on 24/7 doing other tasks would be way down on my list of features to add.
