I face this issue on my Amazon FireTV Stick 4k.
When returning to the FireTV from standby, opening the Plex App results in loading the last open view. However, when starting playback after about 1-2 minutes the stream begins to stutter and the app gets completely unresponsive. Nevertheless, by using the back button one can quit the app finally, after a fresh start of the app, everything is fine again.
For me the problem still persists, also using the most current versions of today.
It is really annoying that Plex employees think a reaction is not even needed here… if that would be an isolated case, ok, but its more the usual way to deal with bugs in the plex software many people pay a lot of money for. Just do nothing and ignore people just want to help to fix bugs by reporting them. Just disappointing how customers are treated here.
Yes, JuiceWSA’s point is exactly right for pretty much every Android-based client I have. The problem happened so frequently, I just got in the habit of “forcing stop and clearing cache” before even opening the Plex app.
I don’t notice this issue as much now – only because the app has been plagued with much more serious problems for months now.
I also have to force stop the Plex app EVERY SINGLE TIME the Firestick 4k comes out of sleep mode. Screensaver is disabled so when it goes to black instead you can forget about Plex working correctly.
I still face this issue sporadically. On average I would say about 1 out of 3 playbacks the issue occurs.
Furthermore, the issue started occuring rather frequently on my Nvidia Shield Pro (2019).
Playback media is a basic functionality of Plex and I am really wondering why there is no support at all in this reagards.
