Plex App broken on brand new fire TV stick 4K

Newest server, newest client. App breaks after first usage when opening again (say: a day later). It won’t connect to the server and keeps loading until you force exit and reopen the app through settings menu.
of course a restart would fix this issue, too.
but the behaviour is clearly not wanted. please fix this. other apps work fine. youtube does not freeze like that. only plex does since version 8.4.
the stick is brand new.

Where exactly do you get stuck? “it’s broken” and “keeps loading” is a wide field
Have you tried signing out and back into your account in the Fire TV Plex app?

yes, tried everything. manually rebooting or restarting the app (which is tedious on fireTV because the UI was not meant for that) helps. but it is clearly a bug in plex. has not happened before 8.4, but now it keeps loading whenever the app was in the background for a little longer. there are many reports on that and it is reproducable on a brand new fireTV stick 4K.

I have this issue as well, or at least something similar. Sometimes the Plex app loses access to my server (since it went offline), but even clicking the “refresh” button (or whatever it’s called) now that the server is available doesn’t allow the app to discover the server. The only way to fix the issue is to force shut down the app through the fire tv settings. Clearly this isn’t the expected behavior, and at the very least the refresh button should work.

still not fixed. makes me regret my plex pass payment :frowning:

I’ve regularly has these types of problems on all my android devices for over a year. Often, I can fix the problem by going into the device Settings/Apps and find Plex. Then I force a stop and then clear the cache after choosing the Storage button. Then start Plex again. Obviously this doesn’t always work but it often does. And it avoids the annoyance of losing all your Plex gui settings if you logout. Give it a try if you haven’t already.

Has a fix been found for this yet?

I have been having the same issue on two regular fire tvs, a couple fire tv 4Ks, and on the Android plex app on a note 20 Ultra.
The issue is not present connecting to the same server on Windows, or from an ipad, so it’s clearly not something related to my network or my server but rather something related to the android plex app (since fire tvs also use Android).
It makes me wish there was a refund option to the lifetime pass I purchased last year.
