As a lifetime plex pass subscriber, I wanted to make sure I say thank you to the Plex devs and the support community. I’m going on over a year of really solid Plex experience after 10 years of trying a ton of stuff. Wanted to also share what’s working so folks can believe it.
Linix-based (Unbuntu 64 bit) PlexMedia server. Connects to Ubuntu NAS over NFS.
Four Nvdivia Shields as clients. Comcast CableCard to an HDHOMERUN Prime - including encrypted content. Channel guide, DVR and Live TV working from Plex. Able to remotely tune and watch Live TV from outside the home when bandwidth at the remote side can keep up. Tidal account enabled and works well.
It’s so amazing when stuff just works. Thank you!
What I’ve left behind on my journey: custom Linux client hardware and painful tries at using xbmc and other client linux distributions; too hard to maintain. Branded NAS towers from computer retailers - too slow to keep up with high framerate movies.
Keep on Plex’ing!
