Was wondering what might be behind the huge lag I am experiencing with Plex on Android

I was wondering what generally causes bad buffering and lag when trying to watch a show or movie on the mobile plex app on an android. Currently its an older S10 phone and did doesn’t matter if I am right next to a 4G cell tower or further away with spotty data coverage whenever I try to pull up a movie to show it can take forever to buffer and just start and then constantly buffers with the rotating orange circle.

So I wasn’t sure if it was the

  • Phone Data stream
  • the upload speed from my ISP
  • or something else that might be causing the issue

I currently host my Plex server with the latest version always installed on a windows 11 machine this also happened with windows 10 as the server OS.

the Server is my normal desktop with an

  • AMD Ryzen 9 5900 12-Core Processor
  • 32 GB Ram
  • EVGA GeForce RTX 3080
  • Windows 11 64 bit

Current ISP upload speed 35 MBPS

bump.

I’m not convinced they have any interest in fixing it.

The new app came out in like April or so and its been abysmally laggy for things that do work…and trying to access LiveTV it just locks up spinning forever.

Only workarounds seem to be trying to find an old APK (check the forums for links) to sideload or using a web-browser to try and watch without the app at all (not that user friendly).

Very disappointing as someone who bought a Plex Pass and then found the experience to nosedive.
