I saw on another thread that someone had success in watching a currently recoding show from the beginning while still recording on an Android Client. I have an HDHomeRun Extend as my tuner.
I tried this last night (Nvidia Shield as server and client), and was suprised to see it work. You have to go to the Program Guide and select the show that is recording. It starts playing the show from the beginning. Was happily suprised to see it work, and it worked great!
But, it had some side effects - I had multiple recordings scheduled after that show on the same channel and other channels (I didn’t watch those as they were recording) - and the recordings scheduled on the same channel all failed. I saw some message pop up that “Recording XXXX failed” or something like that. Again, I was not watching while recoding for the subsequent recordings. I had other recodings scheduled at the same time on a different channel, and all those recorded fine. When I restarted PMS, the channel in question then started recording.
When I looked in the log, it looked like PMS was trying to use the tuner that was already being used for the other recording on a differnet channel.
Anyway, my experience. I think if I watch a show while it’s recording again, I’ll restart PMS. Hopefully we fully get this feature in the future.
