I started testing Watch Together today. I had it working on my ATV to my daughter’s IOS, but when she tried to get it to work on her Fire, I suddenly got kicked out of the Plex app in not only my ATV but MY IOS as well. I can not log in as myself. The app just closes. I can log in to someone else’s server and I can log in using the web app. BUT ATV and IOS are now dead. I assume the data for Watch Together has somehow corrupted my interface and now I can’t use Plex at all. HELP!!!
So… here is the bug… It appears, at least for us, that it is the connection with a Fire and ATV. When I attempt to start a Watch with my ATV, the Fire never sees the invite. My Watch button will stay “Start” for a few seconds, then change to “Join”. If the Fire tries to start a Watch, they get kicked out of the program and I get kicked out of ATV and IOS and neither will work again until the Fire deletes the Watch link. The whole thing is really cool, it is just not working. It does work with the ATV and IOS, but I don’t want to do a watch party with a phone.
@bruceagreenberg I shared a link with a friend who has Fire TV and I have Apple TV. I am having same problem where I can’t get into my ios app or Apple TV app. How does he delete the Watch link on his Fire TV?
I know that on the ATV you just click and hold on the video (a new section is created on the main screen when you start a watch, and that is the place to delete it). I don’t know how Fire’s work (although I burnt my house down once, but that’s another story), but I told my daughter what I told you and she figured it out. Also, I believe after 3 hours, it will just go away.
Couldn’t figure out how to delete the watch together link, but it did time out after 3 hours.
That works on the Fire TV now as well ![]()
Any idea what is going on with the Fire to ATV Watch Together hookup? Is there a fix in the works?
This also happens with a Watch Together session being started from Roku.
I was using iOS/AppleTV and a friend was attempting to start a session from his Roku. As soon as he’d invite me, the Plex apps for iOS/AppleTV would crash. If he removed the watch together session from his Roku, I was then able to relaunch the apps.
After he “removed” his session, it would then appear on my app with only my user tied to the session.
It’s getting closer now. When I try and link up with someone with a Fire Stick, it doesn’t crash either of our systems, but it still doesn’t work. It now says that we don’t have access to each other’s files and to give the other user rights (or something like that). The icon is grayed out so you can’t click on it.
