Won’t work. Just says Please Wait…on both ends. Google has 1 topic from 2 years ago where apparently the certs expired for a plex domain. Did it happen again? No invite is working…NOTHING changed on my server-side end…just stopped working a few days ago. Debug logs show ZILCH.
Is this specific to attempting a watch-together session in the browser or do you experience the same across different clients. If it only happens in the browser… does the issue persist if you use a different browser / disable browser add-ons/plug-ins/blockers?
Happens across Android, iOS app, Fire Stick, Shield, browser, and app across ANY file. I never in years had issues. I checked - updated the PMS Server - everything. This randomly started happening and nothing has changed on my end. If there’s a better way to debug it, I’m all ears but the DEBUG log shows no errors around the time this occurs.
Weirdly 1 file worked last night as I was attempting to debug.
Did more testing. When invited via the WEB and family joins via iOS App - Watch Together works fine. When I invite through Shield TV - noticed odd behavior.
They’re “Invited” and I’m “Ready” status in the wait room until they join. Then I go to “Invited” and nothing happens.
They got an error on ios : (null) paused.
Seems something is broken on the App side. It’s not server side - if it were I doubt the WEB Watch Together would work.
I attempted to use their managed account and try to join via Android (Note 8) phone and invite myself via the web - didn’t work. Please Wait…stuck on that.
I attempted to make sure its not some kind of transcode issue - and it wasn’t - both clients (one invited from) and invited to are Direct Play for all files tested.
Something is clearly broken on Plex’s server side IMHO. as it pertains to non-Plex-web
Full DEBUG log.
A lot of the OTHER-USER might say “Note 8” You can ignore that - thats on my phone…seems to be querying the server. Their IP in log is REDACTED and they were joining with iOS App on an iPhone as the logs show.
10:56 is the one with Web Invite + IOS (other-user) joining. “Donnie or Marie” ep name
10:58 - “72 Hours” episode name. me inviting them via my SHIELD-TV - and them joining on iOS - failed.
11:00 - “Sayonara Haiawatha” ep name. Shield Invite to figure out the “null” error. Failed
Hello!
I can replicate this behaviour - This occurs on ALL media.
Plex server Version 1.40.1.8120
User1 is on Plex for windows Version 1.88.1.96-c1c59fc1
User2 is on (Shield) AndroidTV Version 10.10.0.5899 (0bf3646)
User2 starts the watch session and User1 joins, User1 gets kicked off with the message of “There was an unexpected error during playback. Please visit our forums if you continue to experience problems.”
I did another test:
User1 is on Plex for windows Version 1.88.1.96-c1c59fc1
User2 is on Plex for windows Version 1.88.1.96-c1c59fc1
Works perfect. It’s something to do with Watch Together between 2 different device OS’
Can we get this investigated please?
Thank god I’m not alone Clarkyy!..I’ve been going stir-crazy over here like cabin fever thinking it’s just me.
What’s weird is I managed to get it to work WEB —> iOS. And WEB—> WEB. That’s it so far. All others fail. Android to WEB, Shield to WEB, Shield to Fire, etc.
That narrows it down to android based devices that the issue occurs with?
Hrmmm I didn’t think of that pattern! …I will check back on this and let you know with a WEB — > Fire Stick check.
This really looks to be related to the most recent update for the Android App. It started right after it was updated a couple days ago. It looks like version 10.10.0.5899 is having the issue. If doing only web based Watch Together there is no issue. As soon as I try to Watch Together with an Android based app it will never show as both users Ready. I wonder it’s related to how the Android app is reporting back the viewing. I noticed that on the Web version of the Watch together it will add an Unknown user with the device name as part of viewing group.
Hi, thanks for reporting. You are correct that it is an issue with the latest Android app. The engineers have worked on a fix, and it should be available in the next release 10.11.0
I was just going to say I tested with WEB — > Fire Stick and it worked flawlessly - confirming the issue is ONLY with Android apps on the other end. Phew! I didn’t even REALIZE my Shield updated the Android app automatically (lol).
Thanks for confirming Justina! Any ETA on when the next release is coming?
If you have access to beta, it should be available later this week. Otherwise, it will be available to everyone in around 2 weeks.
Thank you for giving us an update.
This was bothering me for 2 weeks now and i couldn’t really figure out why it wouldn’t work. Until i saw my Android Phone and Google TV not show up under my username in a watch together session, but under the device name. The bugseems to have crept into 10.10, as the 10.9 still works perfectly.
A buddy with an NVShield and I wasted nearly 2 hours last night on the phone trying to get watch together working…drove us nuts. wish i would have checked the forum
Hi, I was able to reproduce the issue mentioned above “User1 gets kicked off with the message of “There was an unexpected error during playback. Please visit our forums if you continue to experience problems.””
Also I’m seeing the issue in the attached picture. where I invited 1 user and they are sitting at invited while the device logged in with their ID will load and sit at “ready”. Not sure what other information I can provide or what log might store this weird data. The device is an andriod TV player running 10.10.0.589 I was on both web and plex for windows.
Plex server Version 1.40.1.8120
Plex for windows Version 1.88.1.96-c1c59fc1
Plex for android Version 10.10.0.589
I tried the BETA and I can confirm this does not fix the WATCH TOGETHER issue with the NVIDIA Shield. Providing this FIX update is the version out at the moment?
I sent an invite to someone and they do receive it. They accept but my screen remains on the “playback will start when everyone is ready”
The other persons video will start playing but mine will not. If I press start my video obviously starts playing but it is not in sync with the other person. Pressing pause of fast forwarding/rewinding has zero effect. Go back to using the native PLEX app on LG WebOS and Watch Together functions as normal.
Extremely upsetting to hear they broke this and didn’t fix it in the beta either per above post
Darn, any way to go back to the version before this upgrade…guessing I’ll have to reaquaint myself with pushing a apk to the shield
Hi @Justina_plex is this still going to be addressed?
