Channel number/Name: ?
I spent a bit of time yesterday setting up two TV tuner cards. That seems to have gone well, other than the EPG data for my region in Australia is not available. Moving to a nearby region is inaccurate,
Anyhoo, what I’d like to do is to be able to view a live tv stream as it is recording, i.e. begin watching 15 to 20 minutes after the recording starts and to be able to skip over parts I don’t need to see.
With a Plex supported tuner, zero network problems, zero system problems, seventh gen i5 or i7, you would set up a recording and then press play choosing start from the beginning.
Yes, you can, but you have to play from the epg guide item for the recording. You can’t do it from the DVR schedule although many have said that would make more sense.
While it’s supposed to work, I can’t confirm that playing live recordings works right now… There have been a constant revolving set of problems with watching live recordings in progress over the past few years. I got so frustrated with Plex Live TV/DVR that I finally gave up on it and use something else day to day now.
OK, thanks. However, that doesn’t work for me. Activating a live transmission from the EPG only plays from that point in time, i.e. I cannot “wind” back to the beginning of file.
I’ll stick with mythtv, I think. In any case, there is no accurate EPG for my region anyway. Just as well I didn’t take a lifetime Plex Pass.
Yeah, it’s supposed to show a choice of “Play From Start” and “Play Live” (can’t remember exact wording) when you click the play icon on the guide for the live recording. However, this has been one of the revolving problems – either the choice wouldn’t appear or the “Play From Start” choice would play live anyway. This was a great way to spoil a live sports event – You’d select to Play From Start and it would go live instead and you’d see the current score when it went live.
So if this is messed up yet again, it certainly is good that you didn’t get a lifetime pass like I did. So run fast. Run far. There are much better Live TV/DVR choices out there. None of the idiotic recurring Plex Live TV/DVR problems surprise me anymore.
