I have a lot of albums which contain .wav music files. The files are in Plex but their metadata is changed.
Given that Plex doesn’t change your files… are there any other components in your chain that might interfere with those files (maybe some tools/apps used in the media preparation)?
From all I’ve learned from my years with Plex, the server won’t even read embedded metadata from WAV files.
The music is fine when at the source (NAS) but when it is in Plex the Artist is changed (all have same artist name) & the songs exist in dozens of albums which contain various songs.
Ok… so this is about how the files are organized in Plex.
How have you structured / named those files inside the folder linked to your music library?
In Plex the .wav files all are in another artists folder (with his name in metadata), only the song name is correct. Like I said, in this folder is very many folders with the various songs in no particular order). On the NAS, the music is all in one folder.
Plex isn’t reading metadata from WAV files – so this won’t be working as you expect it to work
I guess it used to but doesn’t any more. Sad. I think that if I got a Plex Pass I could use my Sonos library instead? Thanks for helping.
From all I can find Plex never did. The most straightforward thing might be to use an app like filebot to reorganize your files
