.wav Files Say Unknown Artist After Recent Update

I have tried both ways that plex says to organize with no success. Running the most current version of the server. Plex had no problem with .wav files before the update in July 2019.

Plex cannot read metadata from WAV files.
Therefore it can only draw some clues from the folder and file names. So these must be exactly as described in here: https://support.plex.tv/articles/200265296-adding-music-media-from-folders/

My recommendation though would be to convert those WAV Files to lossless flac format. These can be tagged.

.wav files always worked fine until they updated in july. Almost 900 albums imported flawlessly. Now I need to manually edit each new import? I dont want to use flac.

I tried the method in your link already in a new folder. Same bad result.

I’m trying to archive my collection uncompressed and this has stopped me in my tracks.

Why?
I can understand the desire to retain the full quality of the source. That’s what flac is doing.

But I don’t understand “without compression”. What’s wrong with a compression which has no loss whatsoever and will restore a bit-perfect copy of the original wav file upon playback?

.wav is what has worked for 900 albums and has been a standard for years. How about plex fix what they broke vs. me having to convert thousands of files. Telling me to convert is not a solution. I am a plex pass member and have loved plex up until now.
