The current implementation does not recognize the disc id tag with the wav file, it works with mp3 files but not with the wav files.
This works perfectly with emby but not plex.
Plex doesn’t read meta tags from WAV files.
I recommend flac for lossless quality files.
Umh, then why does it recognize the cover art and track number if it does not read these?
It doesn’t. Cover art can be read from a cover.jpg file as well.
And certain metadata, including the cover can also be downloaded if the file names and the folder structure allow Plex to recognise the album and “match” it to a known album.
I switched from flac to wav because plex wasnt playing the flac files correctly, dropping the odd glitch/gap randomly in tracks. I dont wanna switch my file format AGAIN. How can i fix the id tag issue with wav?
What is “plex” in your case? There are numerous different Plex players and platforms.
I never encountered such issues when using Plexamp.
Unfortunately you can’t.
Plex in the browser (chrome & safari on Apple), plex on my tv (Sony), plex amp (on iPhone)… take your pick.
That sounds more like the issue is rooted in the way these flacs were produced.
With properly correctly ripped and encoded flacs I’ve never encountered issues like this – particularly not in Plexamp.
