WD My Cloud Home

I am trying to attache a Western Digital My Cloud Home NAS to Plex on my NVidia Shied. I was able to successfully connect it so Plex can see the drive, but it only shows a Public folder which doesn’t exist on the drive.

My WD has a Public folder that I don’t think I can delete. You may want to double check in your WD browser app for it. Also, my WD NAS does not support direct connections as well. It’s an older one, so this may have changed… but it’s designed to be a network only drive. The USB port it has is designed for storage expansion only, I believe.

Hope that helps? Any reason why you wouldn’t just run it as NAS?

I am trying to use is as media storage for Plex.

Sorry, as I first read it, it sounded like you tried to connect it via USB.

On first guess, it sounds like it might be a permissions issue? The User Name/Password combo the Shield uses may need to be enabled on the WD side for access, or you should convert your shares on it to public settings.

These permissions do not matter for the Public folder, as they are set wide open by default.
